About Chef Rudy

Chef Rudy was born in Kingston, Jamaica and raised in Montego Bay, Jamaica. He began his culinary journey over 30 years ago in Jamaica. Chef Rudy made his culinary debut while working in a Chinese-Jamaican restaurant in Montego Bay as the assistant chef in the early 1980’s. He then became the lead chef at Smokey Joe’s restaurant in Montego Bay in the late 1980s.

After moving to America in the early 90’s, he chose Fort Lauderdale, Florida to begin to pursue his dreams of becoming his own restaurateur. He started with cooking for people at his home. He then began to have tastings in his home and this graduated to his first mobile food truck. Chef Rudy’s “Meals on Wheels” food truck became a mobile sensation and introduced a whole new demographic for his fan base.

Chef Rudy moved to Atlanta, Georgia in 2006 and opened the first A Taste of the Islands installment in Riverdale, GA. This gave Atlanta, GA the opportunity to savor the wonderful flavors of his masterpieces that he has grown to perfect. Some of these mouthwatering masterpieces include: Jerk Ribs, Jerk Chicken, Curry Tofu, Curry Shrimp & Jerk Sausage, just to name a few. He has also created his own line of Jerk sauces & homemade drinks that are also a definite hit with the public. Both the Jerk sauces & homemade drinks will be available in your local retail stores rather soon. He has also recently developed his brand of smoothies that are to die for!!

Chef Rudy Presents is now a conglomerate of the third installment of A Taste of the Islands franchise located in Red Oak, GA. Chef Rudy Presents food trucks and Chef Rudy Presents signature line of Jerk Sauces, Lemonades and Smoothies.

Chef Rudy lives in Atlanta, GA with his beautiful wife & two boys’ ages 16 &11. He also has four adult children that live in Atlanta & New York. Look out for his mobile food truck coming to a city near you as well as his fourth installment of A Taste of the Island in Georgia.
